Reinvention of modernity
The climate crisis and the drastic loss of biodiversity are the most serious problems of our time. The construction industry is responsible for a major part of the man-made climate change. For us as architects, this means that we have the possibility, and even the obligation, to make a difference for the future generations by changing our practices. Sustainability has to become an important criteria in the everyday decisionmaking of architects. This results in completely new draft and design concepts.
Sarah Barth speaks in her lecture on her understanding of architectural practice in the 21st century. What does it mean to build in times of the climate crisis? How far does the responsibility reach from us architects and what does this mean for design and construction?

Le secteur de la construction est responsable pour une grande partie du changement climatique provoqué par les être-humains. Par conséquences, nous les architectes on a la possibilité, et l’obligation, de réellement faire une différence pour les futures générations dans notre pratique professionnelle. La durabilité doit devenir un critère important dans la prise de décision à tous les niveaux. Il en résulte des nouvelles manières et stratégies pour concevoir des projets architecturaux.
